[ AE 2026 ] Pre-Conference Tours - Discover Slovenia

Events

Before Aquaculture Europe 2026 officially opens, join us for a day out in some of Slovenia's most remarkable landscapes. Two pre-conference tours are available on Monday, September 28 — both departing from Ljubljana city centre and returning in the afternoon.

Discover Bled & Beyond — Lake, Tradition & Trout

Tour reference: AE26_SEP28_BLED
Date: Monday, September 28 | 08:00–17:00 | Cost: €60 | Maximum: 50 participants

This full-day tour visits the iconic Lake Bled, where participants explore the lake and its island by traditional Pletna boat — a wooden rowing vessel with origins dating back to 1590. Simultaneously, part of the group will visit the Bled Fishing Association fish farm, dedicated to breeding native salmonid species for stocking and conservation. The tour then continues to Kamnik to visit the Mihovc family trout farm, producing trout since 1995, with a special farm lunch included (fish spread, smoked trout and homemade bread, followed by grilled trout or mixed grill, and a homemade dessert).

Participants will be asked to confirm their lunch choice one week in advance.

Discover Tolmin & Beyond — Hatchery, Gorges & Nature
Tour reference: AE26_SEP28_TOLMIN
Date: Monday, September 28 | 07:30–16:30 | Cost: €40 | Maximum: 50 participants

Note: early departure. Participants are strongly advised to bring their own lunch.

This tour takes participants to Faronika hatchery, a facility owned by the Tolmin Fishing Club located at the confluence of the Soča and Tolminka rivers, specialising in breeding marble trout and grayling from the Soča River basin. The afternoon is spent at the Tolmin Gorges — one of the most spectacular natural sites in Slovenia and the entry point to Triglav National Park. The circular hiking path covers 2 km with approximately 500 stairs and a walking time of 1–1.5 hours. The path is steep in places and can be slippery in wet conditions. Appropriate hiking footwear is mandatory.
